Seems like the days are getting longer. Perhaps its due to the sun rising earlier and setting later each day. Or maybe its just me feeling that way since I often spend my night doing nothing other than watching gem of life.
Just went for a walk outside after dinner. Wanted to explore the last part of the city which I never went before. Everything is closed. I looked at my watch, it says 830pm.
Sidenote: I asked my french colleague where to visit in France, he drew me a map of france and labeled every tourist attraction and train to reach there. Its not that cold anymore. Just chilling. Though you still have to keep your jacket on.
As I walked on, I saw lots of boutiques and perfume shops around. The mannequins stared at me through the glass that separates us. They are still on with winter clothings. While the doors were shut tight, lights were still on shining at the displays with the word "Soldes" hanging all over. I guess that means "Sales".
The street is long and wide, with shop lots on its both sides. Peugeots and Renaults are often seen parked alongside the road.
Once a while, cars zoom pass with loud blasting music. Other than that, everything remain still. Even the black cat that was hiding behind the garbage bin watched me walk pass in silent.
Breathing in the cold air for a while now, I shivered. Reminding me that I forget to put on my long johns. One thing I notice, smoke forms as I breathe, but not for the french. I can't stand breathing the chill air through my nose, often than not, I notice myself breathing through my mouth, maybe that explains it.
I reached the end of the street, at a big cathedral on my right, and an administration office right in front of me. It is all steel and glass, reminding me of the academic buildings back in UTP.
I turned around and followed the way I came. "Dong dong dong~~", the sound came from the cathedral right in front of my apartment I knew. The clock strucks 9. Sometimes I wonder, French people are not very religious in nature, they are mostly atheists. Yet, cathedrals are found everywhere. Everywhere you turn you see huge cathedrals jokes aside.
I hurried my way back to my apartment, passed by the cathedral on my left, the big clock on the very top shows 9.15. I turned into the lane on my right and walked along the bridge that leads to the entrance. I noticed the only light from the whole building comes from my room balcony which is on the top floor. Everyone else's windows or balconies are shut tight.
Where the hell are all these people? Don't they need light to see? It's a horrible scene to a foreigner who's all alone by himself in a foreign land.
